Just a few things to look at

Just a a few things I have made recently in case anyone needs inspiration to dust off their machine. I often have a difficult time deciding what to make so I spread out on my floor with my Cricut and see what happens. I seem to spend a lot more time crafting than baking theses days and the Cricut makes it really fun.

So here's is what I have been up to

Soul Friends

Have you guys heard of the children book Soul Friends by Mayra Porrata? It has quickly become one of my favorite books both in the classroom and out. In fact, we used the book as the theme for the bulletin board outside of our classroom. My sweet Cricut cutter helped me with this project. Who knew glue could be so cute!
Buy the coolest book,  Soul Friends here.

Look what I made for my classroom!

About a month ago I bought a Cricut Explore to use in the classroom (and for fun stuff too). Take a look what the Cricut helped me make. These cute little yellow guys will help the children regulate themselves in each focus area. I love the perfect little shapes. The littles will have a clothes pin with their name on it to clip to each of the number and when there are four clothes pins clipped on the sheet the art center it is full. Think it will work?

Anna’s Essential Oil Oink-ment

IMG_5165

It has been really cold this winter! With the sub zero temperatures come the colds and last week I was a sad victim of a head cold. It has left me with a chapped nose and we all know how difficult it is to soothe chapped skin. In the doTERRA Living Magazine’s most recent issue they had a recipe for salve with essential oils. I figured now was the PERFECT time to try it out on all my chapped spots. I had a jumbo Costco size tub of coconut oil (the hardened type) so I used that in place of the almond oil with great results.

The recipe made a lot more than I had anticipated. I recycled some Altoids tins that worked perfectly for a large amounts of salve. My recipe yielded 6 Altoids tins full and ten 3 ounce jars. I think all my friends will be getting Valentine’s day essential oil healing ointment...I know you wish you had a friend like me.  Amazingly my nose is mostly healed from just a few hours of use so I certainly recommend making this soothing balm. I would also recommend this for any chapped skin or sore bottoms for littles because both lavender and melaluca are great for the diaper area. Burns would also benefit from a soothing salve like this.

Ingredients:

1cup grapeseed oil

1 cup coconut oil

4 Tablespoons beeswax

1 Tablespoon vitamin E oil

10 drops each of Lavender, Cypress, Tea Tree, Frankincense, and Eucalyptus

Directions:

Melt grapeseed, vitamin E, beeswax and coconut oils together in a double boiler until completely melted. Cool for about 5 minutes before adding essential oils and distribute into containers for many many friends. Cool for a few hours before closing containers up.

*A few helpful hints*

- It does take a long time for the double boiler to melt beeswax

- Pouring the salve is messy so prepare your containers and put a paper bag under the pouring station for easy cleanup

Someone had a birthday!

Joey turned three this weekend and we had a little party to celebrate. Joey made it very clear to Uncle Dave that he needed a Bulldogs jersey so of course we had to get him one. Especially because big brother already has one.

We also found a foam bat for him and some candy! It was even nice enough that we got to play outside!  IMG_4273         IMG_4264

Eli thought Uncle Dave’s tongue was silly. Baby giggles are so cute! Eli even showed us his tongue.
